Digital Nature & Wildlife Photography Workshop at the Marine Science Consortium (Wallops Island VA)
Hello All , I am a photographer and also a program coordinator. I work for the Marine Science Consortium on Wallops Island VA. We are put on a workshop in Aug and Nov. I told my boss I belonged to this group and they let me offer a discount. If you register tell them you are from this meet up group and you are eligible for a 10% discount. Jim Clark is the Photographer for this program. DIGITAL NATURE & WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP This workshop is an introduction to nature and wildlife photography. Topics include equipment recommendations for digital cameras, lenses and associated accessories, in addition to discussions relating to exposure, lighting, composition techniques, and the use of photography blinds and the ethics of nature photography. A myriad of equipment will be on display including digital cameras, photography blinds, camera support devices, flash projection setups and remote control units. During the workshop comprehensive field sessions will provide a great hands-on experience. The daily itinerary is set to provide photographers with maximum photography time, based on wildlife activity, weather conditions and light. The Eastern Shore of Virginia is a photographer's paradise, and the vicinity around Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and Assateague National Seashore is phenomenal. The Island is full of wildlife and there are many fabulous places to capture and experience the beauty of pristine marsh lands, coastal forests and trails that lead to panoramic vistas and overlooks. We will also take a boat trip through the scenic marshes and tidal creeks of the area. Birds are abundant during these trips. In addition to photographic instruction, this photography workshop includes all meals during your adventures and three nights of double-occupancy lodging at the Marine Science Consortium (inquire for single room enhancement). This brand new, state of the art residential hall with university-style suites (two bedrooms with one bathroom) and central heat and air is a residential environmental learning center providing educational programs focused on coastal and marine environments. The large lounge area has television and wireless internet access. These and many other features make this a truly enjoyable photo adventure. Photographers must be able to hike unassisted and able to climb stairs for this particular workshop as the trails around the Refuge are not fully handicap accessible. We will be walking far distances. Endurance rating is moderate, though our pace will be slow. Please, call (757) 824-5636 on M - F between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM or email specialprog(at)msconsortium.org to make reservations. The workshop cost is $650 per person and includes meals, lodging, instruction, transportation to field sites boat trip and all. www.msconsortium.org 08/20/2010-08/23/2010 Digital Nature & Wildlife Photography Workshop 11/12/2010-11/15/2010 Digital Nature & Wildlife Photography Workshop Day 1 3:00 - 5:00 pm Check in with Special Programs Coordinator at MSC 5:30 - 6:30 pm Dinner in MSC's Cafeteria 7:00 - 8:30 pm Group welcome and schedule overview Orientation and Photography Basics Day 2 7:30 - 8:30 AM Breakfast in MSC's Cafeteria 8:45 – 12:00 PM Field Work-Assateague Island 12:00- 1:00 PM Picnic Lunch 1:00 – 4:00 PM Field Work- Assateague Island 5:30-6:30 PM Dinner in MSC's Cafeteria 7:00 - 8:30 PM Lecture Day 3 7:30 - 8:30 AM Breakfast in MSC's Cafeteria 9:00 – 12:00PM Field Work 12:00-1:00PM Picnic Lunch 1:00 - 4:00 PM Field Work – Boat Trip 5:15 PM Bus Departs from MSC for Dinner on Chincoteague 7:00 PM Field Work Day 4 7:30 - 8:30 AM Breakfast in MSC's Cafeteria 9:00 - 12:00 am Photo Critique 12:00-1:00PM Lunch in MSC's Cafeteria 12:30 am Check out |
