A little more than a year ago, I launched our group to create a fun place for photographers to shoot picturesque locations together. Now, I'd like to take the next step in the excursions experience. I've decided to launch a business that provides structured photography instruction while touring our favorite DC destinations. PhotoTour Excursions boils down the principles of taking great pictures to 10 easy steps provided during narrated tours. Beyond our excursions, we will provide continued resources to help you improve your craft — a cheat sheet of our 10 Steps to Great Pictures, a newsletter that delivers tips and tricks to your email inbox, and constructive critiques of your best photos.

We will begin on Oct. 10, and every Saturday afternoon, we will tour the downtown DC monuments. Our following tours will include one in Annapolis and another through Adams Morgan.

Over the past year, I've met countless members who wanted personal instruction on learning their cameras or improving their pictures. PhotoTour Excursions will be a great resource to help you reach those goals. Of course, we will continue our free Shutterbug Excursions, and I will look forward to seeing you at either one of our outings here or on a PhotoTour Excursion.
