I saw Lyn's photo and got taken in by that 100-Megawatt smile! ;-) Ok, seriously, a big reason is that up to now, photography has been mostly been a solitary endeavor for me. That's fine, but I find that when I'm around other enthusiastic photograp
All sort of things. Mostly, I like to find interesting patterns, shapes and colors.
I was an enthusiastic amtateur from 1967 (age 17) until about 1980, using mostly 35mm SLRs, but also Leica rangefinders and some 2-1/4. I developed and printed my own B&W and also shot a lot of Kodachrome and Ektachrome slides. So in other words, I started in the ancient times and learned the basics of photography well. Got back into photography in 2002 and went totally digital. To my surprise an delight, it's more fun now than ever.
When I go out to shoot "on purpose," I use a Canon XSi (just replaced my 4-1/2 year old Digital Rebel D300.) Otherwise, I carry a Canon A620 digicam in my backpack to and from work every day.

"Hi Sarah - this is actually a great picture - it's interesting to see a tiger in the water, and his diagnonal position is a nice composition element. Also, as Victoria said, the reflections are great. May I make a suggestion?..."
"Hi Everyone, Some people have asked me to clarify the price. If you want to just do the two days in Ottawa, that will be $250...."
"Besides being a beautiful photo of the tiger (and great expression with his eyes and tongue!) you created a wonderful compostion - like' he's walking on a figure "7"!"
"Hi Everyone! Thanks for your interest!..."
"George P contacted me to say that he's interested in this trip, and correctly reminded me to mention that a valid passport is now required to enter Canada and return to the U.S. - thanks, George!"
"I'd like to get a feel for the level of interest in a photo trip to Ottawa, Canada, including the Thousand Islands area and possibly a day in Montreal. This trip would be in Spring 2011, most likely May, during the Ottawa Tulip Festival...."
"Leroy - I'm very sorry to hear about your accident. I hope you have a speedy and complete recovery! Are you home recovering now, or spending time in hospital? Best wishes, SteveR"
